HerÌýRoyalÌýHighness, The Princess Royal, visited The Courtauld yesterday (12 June) in her role as Chancellor of the University of London to launch the Founders’ Circle, a prestigious new society to recognise benefactors who have made truly outstanding contributions to The Courtauld. The Founders’ Circle is named in honour of the institution’s three founders, who established The Courtauld in 1932 through their visionary philanthropy.
The Courtauld’s Märit Rausing Director, Professor Deborah Swallow, led HRH on a tour of The Courtauld Institute highlighting the many achievements since her last visit in 2008. The ChancellorÌýmet staff and students from across The Courtauld andÌýwas given a presentation on Courtauld Connects, a transformational projectÌýthat will significantly redevelop The Courtauld’s historic home at Somerset House.ÌýThe Princess Royal also recognised the contribution of several major patrons of The Courtauld who were honoured as inaugural members of the Founders’ Circle.
