Fashion Illustration Masterclass with Alex Mein

Gray M.C.A in partnership with 91ÖÆƬ³§ London is proud to present a series of Fashion Illustration Masterclasses – each hosted by a leading illustrator. In each session you will hear how a contemporary artist approaches his or her work, and what inspires and influences their practice.Ìý Participants will also gain insight and feedback on the work they produce over the course of the evening, as they are invited to draw fashion worn by live models. This is a unique opportunity to be inspired to learn about current fashion illustration practice, while producing your own drawing.Ìý

We are pleased to announce that our next Masterclass will be hosted by Alex Mein.

Alex Mein (b.1981) is an artist and lecturer living and working inÌýLondon. His work explores identity and portraiture through observational drawings made on paper. He works with sittersÌýin theirÌýdomestic spaces, often focusing on the way pose and fashion styling suggest an individual’s personality and documenting a shared moment in timeÌýbetween artist and subject.ÌýFeelings ofÌýempathy, sensuality and intimacy are expressed through an approach informed by his background in fashion and textile design.

Rhythmic lines, pattern, mark making and unconventional colours are used to disrupt and interpret the human form.ÌýMein has beenÌýfeatured in publications such as Another Man and Love Magazine, and his clients include Mulberry, Gap and Liberty London. He is the course leader of the BA (Hons)ÌýFashion Imaging and Illustration degree at London College of Fashion, University of the Arts.
